Western Blot: Galactosylceramidase/GALC Antibody [NBP2-16578] - Non-transfected (-) and transfected (+) 293T whole cell extracts (30 ug) were separated by 7.5% SDS-PAGE, and the membrane was blotted with Galactosylceramidase antibody [N3C3] diluted at 1:1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody (NBP2-19301) was used to detect the primary antibody.

Background

This gene encodes a lysosomal protein which hydrolyzes the galactose ester bonds of galactosylceramide, galactosylsphingosine, lactosylceramide, and monogalactosyldiglyceride. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Krabbe disease, also known as globoid cell leukodystrophy.
