Background
The human MDM4 gene, which plays a role in apoptosis, encodes a 490-amino acid protein containing a RING finger domain and a putative nuclear localization signal. The MDM4 putative nuclear localization signal, which all Mdm proteins contain, is located in the C-terminal region of the protein. The mRNA is expressed at a high level in thymus and at lower levels in all other tissues tested. MDM4 protein produced by in vitro translation interacts with p53 via a binding domain located in the N-terminal region of the MDM4 protein. MDM4 shows significant structural similarity to p53-binding protein MDM2 [provided by RefSeq]

I would like to have information about the following product: MDMX Recombinant Protein (H00004194-P01) (10 ug). I read that it is the full length protein with the addition of a GST tag at its N-terminal region. You also said that the protein is not active. What does it mean? Is the protein capable of interacting with its natural partners (e.g. p53)?
- This product is produced by a Taiwanese company called Abnova and we distribute it for them. They do not test the activity of their recombinant proteins. The proteins are produced in a cell-free wheat germ system with an N-terminal 26kDa GST-tag. In this unique expression system, the proteins may not always undergo the same folding and post-transnational modifications that they might undergo in an endogenous cell. Because of this, we do not recommend this protein for use in functional assays. Its a chance that they may work in your assay, but we can not provide guarantee for your mentioned use.
