Description
The MagCellect Mouse CD4+ T Cell Isolation Kit is designed to isolate CD4+ T cells via a negative selection principle. The resulting cell preparation is highly enriched with CD4+ T cells. Typical recovery ranges between 40% and 66% and the purity of recovered CD4+ T cells ranges from 90-95%, with no detectable CD8+ T cells.

Background

CD4+ T cells develop in the thymus and differentiate into various subsets of more specialized T lymphocytes. The development of these subsets is induced by distinct signals and is controlled by distinct transcription factors. CD4+ T cell subsets produce characteristic combinations of cytokines which enables them to exert diverse functions. CD4+ T cells are critically involved in recruiting and activating other immune cells, dampening ongoing immune responses, and maintaining immunologic memory. The relative expansion of CD4+ subsets changes dramatically in response to local environmental stresses or disease status. The isolation of CD4+ T cells is an important step in the preparation of multiple subsets including Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells. MagCellect technology is based on the use of ferrofluids or magnetic nanoparticles that have no magnetic memory (superparamagnetic) and behave like colloidal particles. This feature allows the ferrofluids to remain in solution without the need for mixing and additionally allows for efficient diffusion kinetics during the binding reaction. The proprietary manufacturing technology of MagCellect(TM) Ferrofluids generates particles with higher ligand binding capacity per mass compared to many other larger diameter magnetic particles.
