FAQs for PBS Tablets (NB900-62086). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).

  1. We have a customer who is in need for ready-to-use PBS, but prefers powder/tables over actual liquid ready-to-use PBS, because the powder/tablets will have longer shelf life. But the customer would like to know how well the tablets are soluble - will he need a magnet stirrer or shaker/vortex or will simple shaking be enough?
    • The customer should dissolve one tablet in 100ml of deionised water to yield 100ml of 10mM (1x) PBS solution. The pH of the final solution will be 7.4 +/- 0.1. Routinely, when I have made up PBS I have placed the bottle on a magnetic stirrer, with a clean stirrer bar, and incubated it at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes. If the customer does not have access to a magnetic stirrer the tablet should dissolve with shaking. The customer should ensure that no precipitate is visible in the solution prior to use.
