Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: Phospho-Tyrosine Antibody (JA10-49) [NBP2-66796] - Staining Phosphotyrosine in A431 cells (green) nontreated (Left) or treated with Sodium metavanadate (Right). The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0.25% Triton X100/PBS.

Flow Cytometry: Phospho-Tyrosine Antibody (JA10-49) [NBP2-66796] - Analysis of A431 cells with Phosphotyrosine antibody at 1/50 dilution (red) compared with an unlabelled control (cells without incubation with primary antibody; black). Alexa Fluor 488-conjugated goat anti rabbit IgG was used as the secondary antibody.

Background

Phosphotyrosine is the phosphorylated version of the amino acid tyrosine. Phosphorylation of histidine, serine, threonine and tyrosine residues acts as a signalling system to control many cellular signalling pathways. The cellular networks which rely on these signals can be very complex, so phosphorylation often occurs on multiple sites on a given protein.
