Reacts with serotonin in a broad range of normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic tissues. Serotonin is also called 5-hydroxytryptamine. The antibody is of particular importance in identifying primary and metastatic carcinoid tumors expressing serotonin. NB120-16007 may be a useful tool for characterization of carcinoids. In a study of 48 cases of adenomas and carcinoid tumours of the middle ear, the labelled tumour cells in 12 cases (25%).

Background
Serotonin-positive cells are present in gastric, duodenal, jejunal, ileal, colonic, and appendiceal mucosae. Positive cells are sparse and usually occur in the lower half of the gastric and intestinal mucosae. In the appendix, in addition to the mucosal serotonin-containing cells, there are single or small clusters of serotonin-positive cells in the sub-epithelial region of the lamina propria.

FAQs for Serotonin Antibody (NB120-16007). (Showing 1 - 4 of 4 FAQs).
What was the immunogenic carrier protein for this serotonin antibody?
The immunogen for NB120-16007 was not conjugated to a carrier protein.
Does the anti-serotonin antibody work with serotonin itself?
This antibody is one of our best sellers and has been widely used for labeling cells expressing serotonin, especially the carcinoid tumors.
I need to know the molar concentration of this antibody.
The concentration for NB120-16007 (Serotonin Antibody/5HT-H209) Lot# 20010335 is 11 ug/ml. We normally regard the size for an IgG molecule as ~160 kDa. Maybe this information is helpful for you to convert it into the molar concentration.
Could you please provide us the suggested dilution of NB120-16007 for IHC-Fr on mouse sample?
This antibody was validated for IHC with frozen tissue samples based on citation in the following publication: NCBI site The authors of this article stained frozen sections of guinea pig pancreas with the antibody. They used NB120-16007 at a dilution of 1:200, with a long incubation (24-48 hours) at 4C.
How DOPA Decarboxylase Affects Neurotransmitter Synthesis DOPA decarboxylase (DDC) is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of aromatic amino acids into their corresponding amines during the synthesis of several important neurotransmitters. Specifically, DDC catalyzes the decarboxylation of L-DOPA to ... Read full blog post.
