Background

A type of white blood cell derived from the thymus. T cells are of key importance to the immune system and are at the core of adaptive immunity, the system that tailors the body's immune response to specific pathogens. T cells do not produce antibodies but do produce a number of substances that regulate the immune response. There are two main subtypes: the CD4+ helper T cells and the CD8+ cytotoxic or suppressor T cells. This antibody immunoprecipitates a 67kDa protein from thymocytes.
